Silur

’Silur' is a piece written for the Danish ensemble Aarhus Sinfonietta in 2020. The title comes from the poem used in the piece.

The piece is about waking up in the middle of the night, not knowing where you are. You try to use your senses. Listening, feeling, looking and finally exploring your environment. Maybe you are not even awake? Memories of your dreams melt together with what you see and feel. It is like stepping into the mirror.

The ensemble is:

Ob, Cl, Bn, Tr, Trb, Prc, Gtr,  Vln 1-2, Vla, Vlc & Db & 4 singers (SATB)

Silur

1.

”F-f”-flamman irrar.

Tomögt stirr

mot en töcknig natt.

2.

Brandrött klot

över stelnad trapp.

Sol över slätter, där ”m-m-t”-fot

gjort hålor.

”T-t-r”-tidens dimmor

i den dunkla prekambriska natten

men "b-r-r”-skogars kåda glittrar

som bärnsten i klargrönt vatten.

Nyss,

från horisont till horisont

sprängt fram

med väldiga ”o-a”.                        Livmastodont

Gnistor i veckad silur.
